Almaty Police Deny Claims of Delayed Medical Aid in Teen Stabbing Deaths
Two teenagers have tragically died from stab wounds sustained during a mass brawl in Almaty. Following the incident, social media buzzed with various accounts regarding the circumstances of one of the young men's deaths, prompting an official response from the city's police department.
The Incident Unfolds
According to reports from KTK television, the altercation began at a computer club. Relatives of the victims stated that the dispute escalated from words to a physical fight on the street. During the heated confrontation, one participant produced a knife, inflicting fatal injuries on two minors.
However, a message circulating on a Telegram channel claimed that the deceased's relatives asserted he was taken to a police station instead of a hospital after sustaining his injuries. The claim suggested he remained at the station for an extended period without medical attention before eventually passing away in the hospital.
A similar version of events was shared on the social media platform Threads. The post alleged that the 17-year-old victim was held at the Alatau district police department for over an hour without medical assistance. It further stated that his 13-year-old brother was searching for him and only learned of his death upon arriving at the police station.
Police Response and Investigation
The press service of the Almaty City Police has officially refuted the social media claims that one of the victims was taken to a police station instead of a hospital. They confirmed that emergency medical teams arrived at the scene promptly.
Both injured teenagers were immediately admitted to a medical facility. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, they tragically passed away. The police department confirmed that a criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of murder. The suspects have been apprehended and are currently in a temporary detention facility.
Authorities are urging the public to rely on official information sources and refrain from spreading misinformation during this sensitive time.
