Kamchybek Tashiev Returns to Kyrgyzstan Amidst Political Realignment

Kamchybek Tashiev, the former head of Kyrgyzstan's National Security Committee, has returned to the country. He arrived at Manas International Airport on the night of February 13th.

Tashiev's return comes shortly after his dismissal from the position of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers – Chairman of the National Security Committee. This decision was made by President Sadyr Japarov on February 10th.

Reasons for Dismissal and Return

According to the presidential press service, the primary goal behind Japarov's decision was to strengthen national unity and prevent internal discord within state structures. Later, the president's press secretary clarified that the tensions were not caused by Tashiev himself, but by individuals in his close circle. These individuals reportedly contacted members of parliament, urging them to support the general and to initiate new presidential elections.

Tashiev himself stated that he had traveled abroad for post-operative examinations with the president's permission. He acknowledged that his dismissal was unexpected but emphasized his commitment to upholding the head of state's decision.

Supporters of Tashiev had previously indicated that he decided to return to Kyrgyzstan despite his treatment course not being fully completed. Journalists were unable to question him upon his arrival at the airport.
