A tragic explosion at the 'Oрталық палау' cafe in Shchuchinsk, Akmola region, has resulted in a grim increase in the death toll, now reaching 11 people. The incident, initially reported with several fatalities, has seen more individuals succumb to their severe injuries despite intensive medical care.

Escalating Fatalities

Officials confirmed that the condition of many victims was extremely critical, making their survival impossible. Nariman Yermek, head of the regional health department, reported that one patient died on March 8th in the intensive care unit of the 'Avicenna-Burabay' hospital. Tragically, another patient passed away on March 9th while receiving treatment at the multi-profile regional hospital in Kokshetau.

Ongoing Efforts and Cause of Incident

The chief physician of the region stated that efforts are ongoing to save the lives of the remaining patients, who are receiving all necessary medical assistance. The explosion itself occurred on the night of February 26th to February 27th. A gas-air mixture explosion at the 'Oрталық палау' cafe initially claimed seven lives – five at the scene and two in the hospital. Subsequently, two more individuals died, bringing the total to nine. The recent deaths of two critically injured patients have now raised the total number of fatalities to 11.
