Ualikhanov District Athletes Vie for Top Honors at "Sever-2026" Winter Games
The "Sever-2026" winter sports festival is currently underway in the North Kazakhstan region, bringing together athletes from across the area. The event, held in the village of Presnovka in Jambul district from February 19-22, features competitions in hockey, futsal, short track, and skiing.
Ualikhanov District's Strong Contingent
Representing Ualikhanov District is a robust team of 68 athletes, comprising talented young individuals, students, and experienced competitors. This dedicated group hails from the villages of Kyskenekol, Aktuyesay, Akbulak, and Kokterek, all prepared to showcase their skills and vie for top positions.
Ambition and Preparation
Talgat Sagitov, Deputy Akim of Ualikhanov District, emphasized the team's readiness and the significance of the festival. "Our athletes were provided with all necessary conditions for the festival, and we have come to Presnovka with a clear goal: to become prize-winners of the spartakiad," Sagitov stated. He highlighted the importance of such events in promoting a healthy lifestyle and fostering a strong national spirit among the youth.
On the Ski Slopes and Ice Rink
Among the first to hit the ski tracks was Anisia Admaeva, a former regional champion from Kyskenekol village. The 19-year-old successfully completed the five-kilometer race on the first day, expressing satisfaction with the well-prepared track and the competitive spirit of her rivals.
In skiing, Miras Ryskulov and Mukhamed Kizatov, both candidates for master of sports, are also representing the district. Following the skiing events, attention shifted to the ice rink for the short track speed skating competitions.
Adil Moldimanov advanced successfully through the first round of short track and is competing for a spot in the quarterfinals. "We have all the necessary facilities for training in our village, including an ice rink and a warm changing room," Moldimanov shared. "Recently, I narrowly missed a prize-winning spot in Petropavlovsk, which motivated me to work even harder."
The women's short track team, featuring seasoned competitors Aruzhan Userbay, Azhar Taybasarova, and Dilyara Aitimbayeva, is also actively contending for medals. Aruzhan Userbay, a future geographer, has been training in short track since the 7th grade under coach Abzal Sabyrzhanuly and sees the "Sever" festival as a crucial platform to demonstrate her abilities.
The festival concludes on February 22nd with a grand closing ceremony at the local House of Culture, where the overall team winners and the region's top athletes will be honored.
