Air Astana to Operate Special Flights to Saudi Arabia Amid Regional Tensions

Air Astana is set to operate four special flights to Saudi Arabia and Egypt on March 3rd, aiming to repatriate citizens amidst ongoing regional instability. These flights are planned to depart from West Kazakhstan, with two services scheduled to land in Medina and Jeddah.

Temporary Suspension of Regular Services

The airline has temporarily suspended its regular flights to the Middle East until March 6th due to the escalating situation in the region. Ticket sales for these routes have also been halted until March 13th.

Conditional Operation of Special Flights

The execution of these special repatriation flights is contingent upon receiving the necessary permits from the aviation authorities of Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Air Astana is closely monitoring the situation and assures passengers that they will be promptly informed of any changes.

Kazakhstan's Flight Restrictions

Previously, Kazakhstan's Civil Aviation Committee imposed a complete ban on flights over the airspace of Iran, Israel, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon, citing security concerns in the Middle East. These restrictions remain in effect until further notice.
