Residents of Atyrau, Balkhash, and Zhezqazghan have been alerted to a potential decline in air quality. The national meteorological agency, Kazhydromet, issued a warning on March 3rd, indicating unfavorable weather conditions that could lead to increased air pollution in these cities.

Unfavorable meteorological conditions refer to a specific set of short-term weather factors that can cause pollutants to accumulate near the ground. These conditions typically include calm weather with light winds, fog, and temperature inversions, all of which hinder the natural dispersal of airborne substances.

City-Specific Forecasts

In Atyrau, clear skies are expected with no precipitation. However, fog may form during the night and early morning, and a dust storm is forecast for the daytime. Winds will be southwesterly, ranging from 2-7 meters per second at night to 7-12 meters per second during the day, with gusts reaching up to 15-18 meters per second. Temperatures are predicted to be between -2 to -4 degrees Celsius at night and a mild 5-7 degrees Celsius during the day.

Zhezqazghan will experience clear weather without precipitation. Southwesterly winds are expected at speeds of 3-8 meters per second. Nighttime temperatures are forecast to be cold, around -10 to -12 degrees Celsius, with daytime temperatures hovering near freezing, between -1 and +1 degree Celsius.

Balkhash will also see clear skies, with snow expected during the day. Wind speeds will be light, around 2-4 meters per second. Nighttime temperatures are predicted to be between -10 to -12 degrees Celsius, dropping to -3 to -5 degrees Celsius during the day.

Looking ahead, Kazhydromet's preliminary forecast suggests that from March 3rd to March 5th, much of Kazakhstan can expect precipitation in the form of rain and snow, along with hail, blizzards, and icy conditions. Strong winds are anticipated across the country, with fog likely in the mornings and evenings, and a gradual rise in temperatures.
