Iran's Unwavering Stance: US Must Accept Terms for Strait of Hormuz Reopening

Iran has declared that the United States has no alternative but to accept Tehran's conditions for resuming negotiations, particularly concerning the critical Strait of Hormuz. This firm stance was articulated by Ebrahim Rezai, a representative from the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission.

Regional Pressure Mounts

According to Rezai, countries in the region and major oil purchasers are exerting pressure on the U.S. to create the necessary conditions for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. "If the U.S. wants to act wisely, it has no other way but to accept Iran's terms in the negotiations," Rezai stated, emphasizing the strategic importance of the waterway.

Legislative Changes Underway

The Iranian Parliament is reportedly working on legislative amendments that would introduce tolls for passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Rezai highlighted that the strait is not functioning as it did previously and reiterated that Iran will not back down from its ten demands presented to the U.S.

US Position

This development follows statements made by U.S. President Donald Trump. In a previous interview with Fox News, Trump indicated that the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz would compel Iran to make concessions in the coming weeks. He also mentioned that U.S. negotiators would not travel to Pakistan for talks with Iran.
