Former leaders of a city clinic in Astana are under investigation for allegedly misappropriating public funds, spending them on expensive equipment and lavish vacations in Italy. The scale of the alleged financial misconduct has resulted in a significant loss to the state.

Investigation Uncovers Embezzlement Scheme

An audit revealed that the previous management of the medical facility rerouted funds designated for patient treatment. These funds were reportedly transferred to accounts belonging to relatives and associated individuals, with the transactions disguised as legitimate financial operations. The total financial damage to the state has been calculated to exceed 675 million tenge.

Criminal Proceedings Initiated

Following the findings, pre-trial investigations have commenced. The Astana Prosecutor's Office has initiated criminal proceedings under Article 189, Part 4 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to embezzlement of particularly large sums. Specialized prosecutors are overseeing the ongoing investigation into this serious case of financial impropriety.
