Kazakhstan Hockey Team Secures Victory Over Slovenia Ahead of World Championship

Kazakhstan's men's national hockey team has celebrated a hard-fought victory against Slovenia in a friendly match. The game, held in Tychy, Poland, saw the Kazakh team emerge victorious with a 2-1 scoreline. This encounter served as a vital preparation step ahead of the 2026 World Championship.

Match Highlights

Slovenia's Mark Sever opened the scoring in the 36th minute, putting his team ahead. However, Kazakhstan's Dmitry Breus quickly responded, equalizing the score in the 39th minute. The decisive goal came late in the game, in the 58th minute, when Roman Stanchenko found the back of the net, securing the win for Kazakhstan. This winning goal was assisted by Vsevolod Logvin and Arkady Shestakov.

World Championship Preparations

The Slovenian national team is set to compete in the elite division of the World Championship in Switzerland this year. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan will vie for promotion in Division IA. The Division IA tournament is scheduled to take place in Poland from May 2nd to May 8th. Under the guidance of coach Talgat Zhaiylauov, the Kazakh team will face formidable opponents including France, Ukraine, Japan, Poland, and Lithuania.
