Mangystau Artist Wins National Grant for Eco-Art Project
A talented artist from the Mangystau region, Sagira Agazhanova, has been awarded the prestigious "Täuelsizdik Urpaqtary" (Generations of Independence) national grant for her groundbreaking "Eco – Art Qazaq" project. This initiative aims to transform textile waste into unique artistic creations while simultaneously advocating for environmental consciousness.
Innovative Art from Waste
Agazhanova's "Eco – Art Qazaq" project stood out among hundreds of applications, earning her a substantial funding of 3 million tenge. The core mission of the project is to craft compelling artworks from discarded fabric remnants, thereby promoting a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility.
A Lifelong Passion for Art
With a lifelong passion for art that began in childhood, inspired by her father who was also an artist, Agazhanova highlighted that this specific creative approach using fabric waste is a novel concept within Kazakhstan. Her artistic journey is deeply rooted in a desire to innovate and make a positive impact.
Future Plans and Community Engagement
The project plans include organizing small exhibitions and masterclasses. These events are designed to draw public attention to consumer culture and the critical importance of environmental protection. The implementation of the "Eco – Art Qazaq" project is expected to take approximately four to five months, culminating in a final exhibition to showcase the completed works.
The "Täuelsizdik Urpaqtary" Grant Program
Established in 2021 on the initiative of the Head of State, the "Täuelsizdik Urpaqtary" grant program has empowered over 100 young Kazakhstani individuals to bring their innovative projects to life. This year's competition, spanning six different directions, received 1700 applications, with 1622 of them proceeding to the review stage.
