Samruk-Kazyna National Fund Restructures: Leadership Roles Reduced in Six Companies
The Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund has initiated significant restructuring, leading to the reduction of leadership positions across six of its subsidiary national companies. This move is part of a broader optimization effort aimed at streamlining operations.
Focus on Efficiency, Not Production
Crucially, the fund has emphasized that these workforce adjustments will not affect production personnel. The primary goal is to enhance efficiency within administrative and management structures, ensuring that core operational roles remain intact.
Key Company Restructuring Details
Among the companies undergoing these changes is KazMunayGas, where optimization efforts are expected to conclude by June 1st. While specific details about the number of affected employees are pending, the company assures that production staff will not be impacted.
Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) has seen a reduction of 221 employees, representing 10.5% of its administrative and management staff. Fourteen of these positions were managerial. This optimization is projected to save approximately 2.2 billion tenge annually, with the average salary within the KTZ group standing at 664,000 tenge.
Kazakhtelecom has stated that large-scale layoffs are not planned. Instead, the company is adapting to technological advancements, digitalization, and process automation, which may lead to the evolution or obsolescence of certain functions. Management continuously refines the organizational structure through role consolidation, reallocation of responsibilities, and efficiency improvements.
Kazatomprom is not planning to release employees due to digitalization and automation of production processes. The company views artificial intelligence as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for human roles.
KEGOC has confirmed that no staff reductions are planned. The company is focused on enhancing employee qualifications and adapting them to modern technological requirements.
Kazpost is exploring additional automation initiatives, but their impact on staffing levels is yet to be determined. The company has confirmed administrative and management staff reductions as part of broader portfolio company optimization. Specific figures regarding employee numbers and salaries were not disclosed.
Kazpost is also considering the integration of artificial intelligence into its management systems as part of its digital transformation. A dedicated working group, including HR and technical specialists, has been formed for the SKAI project. The company reiterates that technologies will serve as auxiliary tools, with all personnel decisions being made by management based on comprehensive assessments.
