US Millionaire Trampled to Death by Elephants During African Safari
A prominent American millionaire and businessman, 75-year-old Ernie Dozio, has died during a hunting safari in Gabon, Africa. Dozio, known for his extensive hunting experience and trophy collection, was reportedly attempting to hunt rare forest antelope and dwarf buffalo when the incident occurred.
Sudden Elephant Attack
The tragic event unfolded in the Lopé-Okanda tropical forest region. Dozio was accompanied by a professional hunting guide when a herd of five female elephants and their calves suddenly emerged from dense bush. The elephants, apparently protective of their young, charged the group without warning.
Guide Injured, Millionaire Fatally Trampled
According to reports, the professional guide was thrown by the elephants' charge and sustained serious injuries. Ernie Dozio, armed only with a rifle intended for antelope, was unable to defend himself and was trampled to death by the enraged animals.
Legally Licensed Safaris
A friend of the deceased stated that Dozio had been a hunter since his youth and possessed numerous hunting trophies from both Africa and the United States. "Many people do not approve of big game hunting, but all his safaris were conducted with legal licenses and as part of wildlife population management," the friend commented.
Dozio's remains are being transported back to California with the assistance of the U.S. Embassy in Gabon.
Business Ventures
Ernie Dozio was the owner of Pacific AgriLands, a company that manages 12,000 acres of vineyards in California. The company is also involved in managing other vineyards and providing equipment for harvesting.
