World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has shared a heartwarming video on his Instagram page, showing him singing in the Kazakh language alongside his Kazakh in-laws. The footage captures a moment of cultural connection and familial warmth.
In the caption accompanying the video, Ghebreyesus expressed his profound gratitude for the memorable evening, highlighting the joy and love shared. He specifically thanked his in-laws, Ardaq and Daulet, for the special occasion. "Our time was filled with laughter, love, and heartfelt songs under one roof," he wrote. He also extended thanks for the gift of three wonderful grandchildren, calling them his greatest treasure.
A Sense of Belonging
Ghebreyesus described the experience as feeling "like I was in my second home." He emphasized the emotional significance of the gathering, stating, "Family is where the heart sings, and today my heart is full of joy."
Family Ties
It is understood that Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has familial ties with a Kazakh family. The granddaughter of the renowned Kazakh akyn (poet) Zursin Erman is married to his son. This is not the first time the WHO chief has garnered attention for his connection to Kazakhstan; he previously addressed the public in Kazakh, congratulating Zursin Erman.
Working Visit to Astana
Currently, the WHO Director-General is in Astana on a working visit. He is participating in a regional ecological summit. During his visit, he also met with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to discuss joint projects.
