Aktau Authorities Monitor Meat Prices, Inspect Market for Fair Trade
Aktau city officials have stepped in to regulate the prices of meat products and other socially significant food items at the local Magash market. The inspection, conducted on April 18th, aimed to prevent unjustified price hikes and ensure compliance with trade regulations.
Market Inspection Underway
The operation saw the participation of Pikr Sansyzbayev, head of the Entrepreneurship and Trade Department, and Rauan Mukhaev, head of the Regional Trade and Consumer Rights Protection Department. Their primary objective was to verify that the trade markup on essential goods does not exceed the legally established limit.
Legal Framework and Accountability
During the inspection, traders were reminded of the legal requirement to limit their profit margins to no more than 15% above the purchase price. According to Mukhaev, any violations discovered will result in the drafting of an administrative report and the imposition of fines. All findings will be reviewed by a special commission under the Akimat (city administration).
Addressing Price Increases
The commission includes specialists from the sanitary service, veterinary inspection, and sanitary-epidemiological control bodies. They will analyze the entire supply chain, from the initial purchase price to the final retail cost, to identify the root causes of price increases. Officials noted that multiple intermediaries could be contributing to higher costs. Efforts are underway to streamline the supply chain and reduce excessive markups. It is important to recall that fixed prices for meat have been officially established in Kazakhstan.
