Astana CCTV shows father shove 10-year-old during kids' scuffle; police open probe
A courtyard dispute between children in Astana escalated when a 39-year-old father stepped in and pushed a 10-year-old boy, prompting a police inquiry and wider discussion on how adults should handle kids' conflicts.
This was reported by the Infohub.kz news agency.
What the video shows
Security footage from the yard of a multi-storey building captured several children tussling before an adult man approached and intervened. The clip, shared online, appears to show the man pushing a 10-year-old during the scuffle.
Parent's account
A mother of one of the children wrote on social media that the incident happened on 2 January and alleged the man struck her son in the face and sent him home in a rude manner. She also said the man's own child was among those involved. Her claims are being reviewed as part of the inquiry.
Police response
Astana Police said the parties were identified and taken to a precinct for questioning. According to the department's official statement, the 39-year-old man pushed a 10-year-old while trying to shield his own son during the fight. An administrative check is underway, and the case will receive a legal assessment in line with applicable law.
Why it matters
Experts warn that adults using force in children’s disputes can escalate tensions and lead to legal consequences. Authorities encourage de-escalation and coordinated responses involving parents, schools and, when necessary, law enforcement.
