A video circulating on social media has captured the attention of many in Astana, showing what appear to be Light Rail Transit (LRT) train cars being moved with the assistance of ropes.

The footage depicts several individuals manually pulling the train cars forward with ropes, while others are seen pushing from behind. This unusual sight quickly became a topic of discussion online.

Company Provides Explanation

The press service of the LRT company has addressed the situation, offering clarification on the video's content. According to their statement, the scene was captured during a phase where the train cars were being manually adjusted on the tracks for precise coupling after their installation.

"This is a stage where manual adjustment is permitted for precise coupling of the cars. All work is carried out in compliance with safety requirements. This is standard practice during testing before the rail transport is put into operation," a company representative stated.

LRT Project Background

The Astana LRT project has faced scrutiny in the past due to its prolonged construction period and significant cost, which have drawn public criticism.

Recently, First Vice-Prime Minister Roman Sklyar and Astana Mayor Zhenis Kassymbek visited the LRT depot to inspect preparations for the launch of the Unified Dispatch Center.
