Cattle Disease Outbreak: Restrictions Imposed in Atyrau Region

A concerning outbreak of serious cattle diseases has been confirmed across several districts in Kazakhstan's Atyrau region. Viral diarrhea and infectious rhinotracheitis have been identified, prompting authorities to implement movement restrictions in affected villages to curb the spread.

Disease Hotspots Identified

The most severely impacted areas are specific villages within the Kurmangazy, Isatai, and Zhyliy districts. The situation in Kurmangazy district is particularly critical, with 4,730 head of cattle falling ill. Of these, 3,743 have received treatment. Movement restrictions remain in place in the villages of Bokeykhan, Dingyzyl, Enbekshi, and Kurmangazy, where disinfection efforts are ongoing.

Situation in Other Districts

In Isatai district, 488 cattle were affected, with 404 having recovered. Restrictions on animal movement continue in the villages of Zineden and Isatai. Meanwhile, in the Kyzylkoga district, samples from sick animals have been sent to the National Reference Center for Veterinary Medicine in Astana for analysis, with results pending. Zhyliy district's Koschagyl village reported 72 sick animals; while they are receiving treatment, the settlement remains under quarantine.

Preventative Measures Underway

To combat the outbreak and prevent future occurrences, the agricultural department has ensured the delivery of over 1.4 million doses of vaccines against 12 types of animal diseases to the region. Veterinarians are actively continuing vaccination campaigns across the affected areas.
