Luxury Lexus Worth $175,000 Confiscated in Fraud Case Assigned to Financial Monitoring Agency

A luxury Lexus LX 600, valued at approximately 79 million tenge (around $175,000 USD), which was confiscated as part of the Perizat Kairat fraud case, has been officially transferred to a state institution. The Astana City Department of State Property and Privatization confirmed the vehicle's new assignment.

The Luxury Vehicle's New Home

The black Lexus, bearing the state license plate 100PKO01, was previously registered to Gaini Alashbaeva, Perizat Kairat's mother. In July of last year, Alashbaeva was sentenced to seven years in prison for her role in embezzling and laundering funds collected for charitable purposes. The confiscated vehicle was appraised at 79,121,985 tenge.

Interestingly, the sale of such assets is restricted to legal entities registered as state institutions or enterprises, including social service providers. In this instance, the confiscated Lexus has been assigned to the Agency for Financial Monitoring, the very body that investigated the case involving Perizat Kairat and her mother.

Other Confiscated Assets

While the Lexus has found a new purpose, other assets seized in connection with the case have not yet been transferred to state bodies. According to the department's statement, these remaining assets are designated for use by law enforcement and special state agencies. They will be utilized for official duties within government bodies that report directly to the president, including those supporting the president, political officials, and members of parliament.

In a separate but related development, the Astana City Department of State Property and Privatization announced in late March the upcoming sale of another vehicle: a black Mercedes-Benz S450 with the license plate 777KPK01. Bidding for this luxury sedan was scheduled to commence on April 7.

Perizat Kairat herself received a ten-year prison sentence and was stripped of her "Shapagat" medal, an award typically given for charity and compassion. The court ordered both Kairat and her mother to collectively compensate 50 victims for material damages totaling 1.582 billion tenge. Additionally, they were mandated to pay state duty fees of 22 million tenge and individual court costs of 698,000 tenge each.
