Pensioner Freezes to Death in Petropavlovsk Amid Second Tragic Incident This Winter

A tragic incident has occurred in Petropavlovsk, where an elderly woman has died from severe cold exposure after leaving her home and subsequently going missing. This marks the second such fatality in the region this winter, highlighting the dangers of the harsh climate.

Family Initiated Search

According to reports, the pensioner left her residence on February 16th and was not heard from again. Information suggests the individual may have experienced memory issues, as she had reportedly gotten lost previously.

Police Investigation Underway

The press service of the regional police department confirmed that the woman's body was discovered near a bypass road. An autopsy revealed that the cause of death was severe hypothermia. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, with further details withheld pending the completion of the investigation, as per Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Previous Similar Fatality

This incident follows a similar tragedy earlier in the season. On January 14th, a 75-year-old resident of Petropavlovsk disappeared while on her way to a nearby clinic, located just minutes from her home. She was found the following morning by a local inspector, sheltered in a fenced area near auxiliary buildings close to the medical facility. Despite being rushed to the hospital by ambulance, she could not be saved due to the severe cold.
