Leaders from Ukraine, Germany, the United Kingdom, and France have jointly outlined five key conditions necessary for establishing a just and sustainable peace in Ukraine. The proposals were made during a meeting in London, with a joint statement released on June 7th.

The leaders emphasized the need for active European participation in peace negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow. Discussions also focused on intensifying economic pressure on Russia, increasing military aid to Ukraine, and exploring joint production of air defense systems and long-range missiles.

Previous Peace Initiatives

This initiative follows previous attempts at direct dialogue. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously sent an open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, proposing a meeting to discuss an end to the war. Zelenskyy also suggested that European and US representatives could join such bilateral talks.

However, President Putin responded by stating he saw no "point" in such a meeting, describing the letter as containing "elements of rudeness" and hindering potential dialogue. He asserted that Russia would conclude the war and achieve its objectives.
