US Navy Intercepts Iranian Ship Attempting to Breach Blockade in Gulf of Oman

The United States Navy has intercepted an Iranian cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman that was attempting to breach a maritime blockade, according to a statement from former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Iranian Ship Detained

Trump announced the seizure on his Truth Social media account, identifying the Iranian vessel as the TOUSKA. The ship reportedly tried to break a maritime blockade but was unsuccessful.

Naval Operation in the Gulf

The U.S. Navy's guided-missile destroyer, the USS Spruance, intercepted the TOUSKA. After the Iranian crew failed to heed warnings to stop, the American warship disabled the vessel by firing into its engine room, bringing it to a halt.

Vessel Under US Control

President Trump stated that the TOUSKA is currently under the control of the U.S. Marines. The ship had previously been subject to sanctions by the U.S. Department of the Treasury for alleged illicit activities. U.S. authorities are currently examining the contents of the vessel.

This incident follows reports from The Wall Street Journal suggesting that the U.S. was planning to intercept ships linked to Iran in international waters. These measures are reportedly aimed at increasing pressure on Tehran to open the Strait of Hormuz and make concessions regarding its nuclear program.
