Kazakhstan: Su-30SM Fighter Jet Crashes During Training, Crew Safe
A Su-30SM fighter jet has crashed in the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan during a routine training flight. The incident occurred on February 25th, prompting an immediate response and investigation.
Crew Safely Evacuated
Officials from the Ministry of Defense confirmed that the aircraft's crew managed to eject safely and were evacuated in a timely manner. Their lives and health are not in danger, and they are currently under the care of medical specialists. The area where the jet fell has been secured, and authorities assure that there is no threat to the public or infrastructure.
Investigation Underway
A special commission has been established by the Ministry of Defense to determine the cause and circumstances of the crash. This commission, led by the head of the flight safety department and including aviation specialists, will conduct a thorough investigation. Legal assessments and procedural decisions will be made based on the findings.
Crash Site Details
The Su-30SM fighter jet went down approximately two kilometers from the "Sary-Arka" airport in Karaganda. This incident follows a previous aviation accident in the region, where a MiG-31 fighter jet crashed near Karaganda on April 16, 2020, during a planned flight while preparing for combat duty.
