Almaty is set to offer a significant perk to its residents and visitors, with all public transport services becoming free of charge for one day. This initiative aims to enhance convenience and ensure unrestricted movement for everyone within the city.

A Day of Free Travel

On March 15, all buses, trolleybuses, and the Almaty Metro will operate without fares. Passengers will be able to travel anywhere, at any time, and on any route without cost. This special measure is being organized to provide ease of travel for the city's inhabitants and guests, particularly to facilitate participation in an upcoming referendum.

Previous Public Transport Initiatives

This is not the first time Almaty has introduced such a public transport incentive. Previously, on Children's Protection Day in 2025, children under the age of 14 were granted free rides on public transport, demonstrating the city's commitment to accessible mobility.

This initiative by the Almaty city administration underscores a focus on citizen convenience and encouraging public participation in civic events.
