KazMunayGas Chief Discusses Future of Kashagan and Karachaganak Projects

The head of Kazakhstan's national oil company, KazMunayGas, has held significant discussions regarding the future of two of the country's most vital energy projects: Kashagan and Karachaganak. The meetings, held in Baku, focused on strategic development and operational enhancements.

Key Project Discussions

Askhat Khasenov, Chairman of the Management Board of KazMunayGas, met with Luca Vignati, Eni's Director for Exploration and Production. The discussions delved into the future prospects of the North Caspian (Kashagan) and Karachaganak projects, which are cornerstones of Kazakhstan's oil and gas industry.

Khasenov emphasized the importance of partners focusing on the timely execution of plans to increase oil production at Kashagan. This highlights the ongoing efforts to maximize output from this massive offshore field.

Karachaganak Expansion and Technology

The strategic significance of expanding the Karachaganak field was also a key topic. A critical step in this expansion involves the commissioning of the sixth gas re-injection compressor unit. This technology is essential for maintaining reservoir pressure and sustaining high production levels.

New Power Plant in Zhanaozen

Beyond the major oil and gas fields, the energy leaders also turned their attention to a significant infrastructure project in the Mangystau region. They discussed the construction of a hybrid power plant in Zhanaozen with a total capacity of 247 MW.

According to KazMunayGas, this new energy facility is being implemented in phases and is designed to provide a stable and environmentally friendly electricity supply to the region's industrial facilities.
