Almaty prosecutors have clarified details surrounding a case involving blogger Adilethan Moldakhan, which gained traction on social media. The investigation centers on a criminal incident that occurred in 2021.

The Elaborate Scheme

The case alleges that blogger Adilethan Moldakhan was involved in a plan to obtain 1.5 million tenge through a staged road accident. According to Didar Kabayev, head of a department at the Turkсіб District Prosecutor's Office, the victim had made a down payment of 1.5 million tenge for housing in Almaty.

An acquaintance of the victim, in collaboration with Moldakhan, devised a plan. They intercepted the victim on the road, staged a traffic accident, and subsequently stole the money. This elaborate scheme was executed in 2021.

Suspects Apprehended and Confessions

Prosecutors confirmed that the suspects were apprehended promptly and taken into custody. During the investigation, both Moldakhan and his accomplice fully confessed to their involvement in the crime and compensated the victim for the damages incurred.

Legal Proceedings and Sentencing

The case was processed under a simplified procedure, in accordance with Article 382 of the Criminal Procedure Code. This expedited process allows for a judgment to be made after questioning and deliberation, without a full examination of all evidence, when the accused admit guilt and do not dispute the claim.

The court found Adilethan Moldakhan and the individual involved guilty. Each was sentenced to three years of restricted freedom. The verdict was not appealed and has since entered into legal force.

Consequently, Adilethan Moldakhan was convicted for a premeditated robbery. Following their confessions and restitution to the victim, they received a sentence of restricted freedom.
