Its intended next destination was Spain.

Gastrointestinal Illness Suspected

Further complicating the situation, 48 passengers and one crew member have reportedly shown symptoms consistent with gastrointestinal illness. Ambassador Cruise Line, the operator of the ship, confirmed these reports, stating that affected individuals exhibited symptoms typical of such ailments. The company emphasized its commitment to passenger health and safety.

"We want to inform that we take any signs of illness among passengers very seriously. As soon as the first reports were received, we immediately intensified sanitary and preventive measures and began work in accordance with public health procedures," the company said in a statement.

Investigation Underway

French health authorities have dispatched a specialized medical team to the ship to investigate the situation. Biologics samples have been collected for laboratory analysis, with results expected within at least six hours. This incident follows previous reports of a potential infection outbreak on the MV Hondius, highlighting ongoing concerns about health risks on cruise voyages.
