President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev convened with Nurlan Jakupov, the Governor of Turkistan region, to review the area's socio-economic development and future strategic plans.

Economic Performance Highlights

Governor Jakupov reported significant economic strides, with the regional economy growing by 113.9%. Tax revenues alone reached 1 trillion tenge. Projections for 2025 indicate an influx of 1.7 trillion tenge in investments, with private capital accounting for 1.4 trillion tenge. Foreign direct investment has climbed to $1.4 billion.

Last year saw the successful implementation of 58 investment projects totaling 340 billion tenge, leading to the creation of over 8,000 new jobs.

Industrial and Agricultural Development

The region currently operates 21 industrial zones. Within the "Turan" special economic zone, 26 projects valued at 315 billion tenge are underway.

In agriculture, the focus is on developing cotton, corn, and livestock clusters. Once fully operational, these clusters are expected to boost agricultural output by 479.5 billion tenge by 2027.

Social Sector and Employment Initiatives

Over the past three years, the number of individuals receiving targeted social assistance has halved. Employment programs have engaged 148,000 people, bringing the unemployment rate down to 4.6%.

Progress in constructing educational and healthcare facilities, cultural sites, developing road infrastructure, and expanding gas and drinking water supply networks was also detailed.

Presidential Directives

Concluding the meeting, President Tokayev directed the Governor to continue efforts in attracting investment and fostering growth in agriculture and industry. The Head of State stressed the critical importance of improving the quality of life for citizens, generating new employment opportunities, and advancing infrastructure development.
