Following severe flooding in Dagestan, residents of Kazakhstan have reached out to offer support and assistance to those impacted by the disaster. Social media platforms are abuzz with messages from Kazakh citizens inquiring about ways to help, expressing readiness to send donations, supplies, or even travel to the affected regions.

Many have posted messages of solidarity, asking for specific needs. Comments include questions like, "Where can we get a card number to send money?", "Please list what kind of help is needed, and we will prepare it," and "How can we help? Stay strong!"

These expressions of support emerged after news broke about heavy rains and subsequent flooding across Dagestan. In recent days, hundreds of settlements in the region have been submerged, necessitating urgent evacuations of residents.

Residents of Dagestan have responded warmly to the messages from Kazakhstan, expressing deep gratitude for the support and concern. Replies include sentiments like, "Thank you for your support," and "I cannot express how much I respect the people of Kazakhstan. Thank you!" A Familiar Face Offers Perspective

The attention of many online users has been drawn to an appeal from Dagestani activist Omarashab Akhmedov, who is well-known in Kazakhstan following events in 2024. At that time, he traveled from Dagestan to Kazakhstan upon hearing about a shortage of sandbags needed to reinforce dams during extensive flooding in the Atyrau region. He brought bags used for constructing flood defenses, earning gratitude from locals and the moniker "Brother of Atyrau" in the city.

In response to the offers of help from Kazakhstan, Akhmedov shared a video message thanking Kazakh citizens for their swift response. He noted that the region is currently managing the situation with its own resources and does not urgently require additional humanitarian aid at this moment.

"Everything is fine, there is no situation that forces us to ask for help. I believe we will overcome this with our own strength," he stated.

Akhmedov particularly emphasized the significance of people's willingness to help. "If any need arises, I know that our brothers from Kazakhstan are ready to help. I am very pleased that our brothers are acting so quickly from Kazakhstan," he added.

He concluded by reiterating his thanks to the people of Kazakhstan for their support and warm solidarity. Meanwhile, Kazakh citizens continue to offer assistance and words of encouragement to the residents of Dagestan, with many still inquiring about the best ways to contribute and where to send humanitarian aid.
