Kazakhstan is revamping its school curriculum by introducing three new subjects designed to deepen students' understanding of civics and law. The changes, announced by the Minister of Education, aim to elevate the quality of education across the country.

New Subjects for Different Age Groups

Starting with students in grades 5-7, a new subject titled "Fundamentals of the Constitution" will be implemented. For those in grades 8-9, the curriculum will be enhanced with "Law and Order." Upper secondary students, in grades 10-11, will be required to study "Fundamentals of Law."

Focus on Foundational Skills

Beyond new subjects, the Ministry of Education is also reviving traditional writing exercises such as essays, compositions, and dictations. These measures are intended to bolster students' literacy and written communication abilities.

Emphasis on School Environment

During a recent visit to the "Keleshek Mektebi" project, Minister of Education Zhyldyz Suleimenova highlighted the importance of maintaining cleanliness and order within schools. She emphasized that schools serve as crucial environments for nurturing future generations.

Positive Trends in Education Quality

Minister Suleimenova shared encouraging statistics, noting that the quality of education in the region has improved by 55.5% over the past four years. Furthermore, in the 2025-2026 academic year, over 300 students achieved success in national Olympiads, with an additional 27 students excelling in international competitions.

This initiative reflects Kazakhstan's commitment to modernizing its education system and equipping students with essential knowledge for their future.
