A prominent lawyer in Pavlodar has been found guilty of large-scale fraud and inciting bribery, leading to a significant court ruling that bars him from holding public service positions for life.

Fraudulent Scheme Uncovered

During the investigation, it was revealed that the lawyer exploited his professional status to deceive a client. He claimed he could influence officials, convincing the client to hand over 6.1 million tenge. However, the lawyer failed to fulfill his promise and instead used the money for his own purposes.

Court Ruling and Consequences

The court found the lawyer guilty of fraud and incitement to bribery. The verdict, issued on February 27, 2026, includes a lifetime prohibition from working in state service. This ruling is not yet legally binding and can be appealed.

This case follows recent legislative changes in Kazakhstan that have strengthened accountability for lawyers and consultants involved in corrupt practices.
