The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran announced that it had targeted the military base and headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet using missiles and drones. Reports also indicate an attack on a vessel identified as belonging to the US, named 'Panaia'. During these events, air raid sirens were activated in Bahrain, prompting residents to seek safety. The Kuwaiti army reported successfully repelling drone and missile attacks.

US Response

In response, US military forces stated they had destroyed Iranian drones and missiles. Furthermore, the US confirmed striking Iran's Qeshm Island. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) clarified that the strike on Qeshm Island was an act of self-defense, aimed at Iran's regional attack activities.

CENTCOM's statement, posted on their X (formerly Twitter) account, detailed that the strike targeted an Iranian military ground control station. According to CENTCOM, US forces also intercepted and destroyed several Iranian ballistic missiles and drones that were heading towards Kuwait and Bahrain. Additionally, a tanker attempting to pass the island of Hark, despite a US-imposed blockade, was intercepted. The American command also reported recently shooting down three drones accused of targeting civilian mariners lawfully transiting regional waters.
