Kazakhstan is set to significantly streamline the driver's license renewal process. Starting in April 2026, citizens will be able to renew their expired driver's licenses entirely online, eliminating the need for in-person visits to public service centers (CSPs).

Online Renewal Expansion

Previously, the online service for driver's license renewal was only available for licenses that had not yet expired. This new regulation extends the convenience of online renewal to those whose licenses have lapsed.

How to Renew Online

The renewal can be completed through the eGov.kz portal or the eGov Mobile application. Once the process is complete, the updated license details will be available in the 'Messages' section of your personal cabinet on eGov.kz and within the 'Messages' – 'Personal Cabinet History' section of the eGov Mobile app. The physical document can then be collected from a chosen CSP by presenting your ID.

When Online Renewal Isn't Possible

There are specific circumstances where online renewal will not be an option. If you have outstanding fines that are more than 30 days overdue, you will need to settle these debts before you can renew your license online. The system requires all penalties to be cleared first.

License Validity Period

It's important to remember that driver's licenses in Kazakhstan are valid for 10 years, according to data from the Government for Citizens.
