New Vice Minister Appointed to Kazakhstan's Agriculture Ministry
Kazakhstan's agricultural sector has a new leader. Talassbek Kanafin has been appointed as the Vice Minister of Agriculture, a move expected to inject fresh momentum into the industry's development.
Who is Talassbek Kanafin?
Born in 1986 in the Karaganda region, Kanafin is a graduate of the Karaganda State Technical University. He began his professional journey in 2008 as a system administrator at 'Astykzhan-Karaganda' LLP in Astana.
Career Progression
From 2009 to 2016, Kanafin held various positions within 'National Information Technologies' JSC, rising from a lead specialist to a project manager.
Between 2017 and 2019, he served at the State Material Reserves Committee of the Ministry of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan. There, he worked as the head of the IT department and later as deputy director of the 'Reserve' State Enterprise.
Kanafin's career continued at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan from 2019 to 2024. He progressed through roles including Deputy Director of the Administrative Work and Control Department and Deputy Director of the Digitalization Department. Since February 2020, he led the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Digitalization Department.
