Kazakhstan has updated its statistics on the highest-paying sectors and regions based on the first quarter's performance. In a significant shift, the Atyrau region, long the frontrunner in average salaries, has lost its top position.

Shifting Fortunes in Regional Earnings

For an extended period, the Atyrau region consistently held the number one spot for average monthly earnings. However, recent data reveals a change, with the region now ranking third. Experts attribute this shift to the completion of major infrastructure projects, such as the Future Growth Project (FGP).

Top Sectors and Their Earnings

While the oil industry has historically offered high remuneration, another sector has emerged as the leader in average salaries. The oil production sector currently employs 47,994 individuals, whose earnings significantly exceed the national average. However, the tobacco manufacturing industry has now claimed the top spot for highest average pay.

The data also highlights the regional disparities in income. The top three regions for average monthly earnings are:

Conversely, the North Kazakhstan region recorded the lowest average monthly salary, standing at 326,664 tenge.
