Astana is rolling out a new strategy to tackle the persistent problem of illegal parking. The city's authorities have launched specialized mobile units equipped to identify and ticket vehicles parked in violation of regulations, a move expected to significantly improve traffic management and parking order.

How the New System Works

These distinctive vehicles, marked with a special logo, patrol the city's streets, specifically monitoring areas where parking is prohibited. Upon detecting a vehicle parked illegally, the system captures its data and transmits it to the police. Consequently, a fine is automatically issued to the offender.

Advanced Technology for Enforcement

The mobile units are outfitted with internet-connected devices in their luggage compartments, ensuring continuous operation and data transmission. These complexes follow predetermined routes, efficiently scanning for violations. Organizers estimate that a single vehicle can identify approximately 100 parking infractions per day, highlighting the system's potential impact.

This initiative comes after previous reports of issues related to parking fines, including a case where a resident of Astana reportedly made an involuntary overpayment for a parking ticket.
